The dishwasher in the lounge ceased to function correctly at the end of April 2025. This dishwasher was originally purchased by the Residents’ Association some 16 years prior to its breaking down.
The dishwasher is used for many social gatherings at Tudor Rose Court and the officers of your Residents’ Association took the emergency decision, in advance of the next meeting of the Residents' Association on 28th July, 2025, to order a new dishwasher which was delivered and installed by John Lewis on Thursday 8th May. The old dishwasher was removed at the same time. An item was added to the agenda for the Residents’ Association meeting in July to enable further discussion about this emergency decision, including how the new machine will be funded.
At the end of March, 2025, our dishwasher (located in the residents' lounge) suffered an irreparable fault. The drain pump was operating constantly and the machine was unusable. Your Residents' Association officers held an emergency meeting to decide what action should be taken. These points arose out of that meeting:
The dishwasher had been purchased by the Residents' Association some 12 years ago.
The cost of employing an engineer to review any possible repair would be greater than the value of the machine.
The most cost-effective solution was to replace the machine. This would be a decision that would need to be ratified at the next meeting of the Association in July, 2025.
The need for a working dishwasher was immediate as it is regularly used at least twice a week and we had several large events planned that would require the use of a dishwasher before the next meeting of the Association.
The Residents' Association had recently been given a Waitrose voucher for £200 from the construction company working a 1 Golden Lane. At their last meeting, the Residents' Association agreed to delegate the decision as to how to best spend this money for the benefit of all residents to the officers of the Association. Your officers agreed that this money should be put towards the cost of a new dishwasher as this would potentially be a long-term benefit to all residents. If the purchase was made from John Lewis, the Waitrose voucher could be used to part-fund the purchase.
The officers instructed the Vice Chairman and Treasurer to go ahead with the purchase of a new machine as soon as possible and the members of the Residents' Association should be asked to ratify this decsision at their next meeting in July, 2025.
On 3rd May, 2025 a new dishwasher was purchased from John Lewis at a total cost of £343.95, to include delivery on 8th May, installation and removal of the old machine.
